A special anniversary calls for a special present ...

My friends Hazel and Fred are celebrating their 60th anniversary today. I wanted to make them something special, so cut apart their party invite which had a little repro of their wedding photo, and combined that with overpainted paper and music on stretched canvas to make this little piece, 4" x 5". I hope they like it -- Happy Anniversary, you two!

I'm just sitting here on a lovely June morning ...

... surrounded by tiny scraps of paper, and up to my elbows in glue. Everytime I make a vow to move my art-making to my OTHER desk (away from my computer and all those business things) I backslide. Mostly, I guess, because I love to collage while watching The Daily Show on my computer ... :)

Here's what I finished this morning -- apologies to Audubon:

Well, I made the front page ...

... of Etsy, and I missed seeing it! Thanks to stilettoheights who let me know I had achieved this honour -- but the good news is that the piece sold while it was featured.

Here is is, for those who missed it :)

It started as a photo of Sylvia Plath, and the little bird hopped on there, and then it just snowballed. :)

I find the process of creating collages very interesting -- in some ways it's like word association, or stream-of-consciousness something-or-other: I start with one image, and matters quickly get out of hand ...

Yes, I really need another blog ...

This time, for my artwork. I am a painter and collage artist living and working in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. I sell my art on my portfolio website as well as at the fabulous craft site Etsy.

Here's my latest piece ...
